HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-8274 2012-2013 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Sponsored by: City Manager Resolution No. 11-8274 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR FY 2012-2013 FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND ($150,000.00) DOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS,the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program(FRDAP)provides grants for acquisition and development of land for public outdoor recreation use or construction/renovation of public recreational trails; and WHEREAS,the City of Opa-locka desires to apply for FY 2012-2013 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Grant in the amount of$150,000.00; and. WHEREAS,the additional funding will provide improvements to the City of Opa-locka's park facilities; and WHEREAS, the City will be required to provide a twenty-five percent(25%) minimum match, in the amount of$37,500.00, which will be payable from Account Number 72-572630, if the grant is awarded; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires the City Manager to apply for the FY 2012-2013 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program Grant. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble hereby incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes City Manager to apply for FY 2012-2013 Florida Recreation Development Assistance program in the amount up Resolution No. 11-8274 to One Hundred Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars. Finnie, Interim City Manager DATE:, / August 16, 2011 RE:/ 2012-2013 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program *quest: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR FY 2012-2013 FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT UP TO TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND ($150,000.00) DOLLARS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Description: The Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) is a competitive program which provides grants to local governmental entities for acquisition and development of land for public outdoor recreation use or to construct recreational trails. A proposed project must fall under one of the following categories: (1) acquisition of land for public outdoor recreational purposes; (2) development and/or renovation of land for public outdoor recreational purposes; or(3) construction and/or renovation of a public recreational trail. Financial Impact: The City must provide twenty-five percent (25%) minimum match in the amount of Thirty Seven Thousand, Five Hundred dollars which will be funded from Account # 72- 572630. Implementation Time Line: Immediately, the deadline for the application is September 15, 2011. Legislative History: None Recommendation(s): Staff is recommending the approval because the additional funding will allow the City to improve facility at Ingram Park, i.e. building, bathroom and security.
