HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-8283 Purchase 13 Fully Equipped Crown Victoria Police Vehicles Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 11-8283 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO APPROVE THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE THIRTEEN (13) FULLY EQUIPPPED CROWN VICTORIA POLICE VEHICLES FROM THE CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS,IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY-NINE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($59,500.00), PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NUMBER 65-521648; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka desires to improve and better equip the Police Department by purchasing thirteen (13) fully equipped Crown Victoria Police Interceptors from the City of Coral Springs; and WHEREAS, the vehicles will be newly painted and the City will provide the logos and stripping to the vehicles; and WHEREAS, payment for the 13 vehicles together with equipment is $54,300.00, and the cost of logos and stripping is $5,200.00, making the total cost $59,500.00, payable from account 65-521648. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to purchase thirteen (13) fully equipped Crown Victoria Police Interceptor vehicles from the City of Coral Spring, in the amount of Fifty-Nine Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($59,500.00), payable from account number 65-521648. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. Resolution No. 11-8283 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of September, 2011. Description: The Opa-locka Police Department proposes the acquisition of thirteen (13) fully equipped Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. The vehicles will be newly painted. The City of Opa-locka will have to provide the logos and stripping. The cars will be inspected by a private mechanic upon receipt of each vehicle. Financial Impact: A one-time payment of $54,300.00 for the purchase of all the vehicles along with equipment, plus the cost of logos and stripping of approximately $5,200. This brings the total cost to $59,500.00 payable from account number 65-521648. Implementation Time Line: Upon approval and order of the vehicles, said vehicles should be in service between 6 to 8 weeks from placement of order. Legislative History: None Recommendation(s): As a result of the Department's continuous efforts to improve and be better equipped to provide services to the City of Opa-locka, it is recommended that this Agenda Item receive favorable support and approval from the City Commission. 1 City Commission Re: Police Vehicle September 21, 2011 Page 2 of 2 Analysis: These vehicles will be purchased from the City of Coral Springs, at a cost of $4176.92 per vehicle. The vehicle will also be painted Black and White, the painting of the vehicles will be included in the total price per vehicle. Safety Equipment = included in the total price per vehicle.
