A regular meeting of the Board of Assessors was held on April 6, 2010 in the first floor
conference room at the Town Hall. A Notice of Meeting was duly posted. The meeting
commenced at 5:35 p.m. In attendance were John Duffy and John Palmer, a majority of
the Board. John Duffy presided and John Palmer kept the minutes. Also in attendance
were Robert Bushway, Principal Assessor, and Steven McCarthy, Deputy Assessor.
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 23, 2010 were approved.
The Board reviewed and signed a Bills Payable Warrant in the amount of $315.80.
Mr. Bushway reported that, due to its pending litigation, Verizon New England is not
willing to release the Town of Hopkinton from possible property tax refunds for years
prior to FY 2008. The Board discussed this matter and agreed to take no action
concerning the amount in the overlay.
Mr. Bushway reported that he has begun an inquiry into the appropriateness of the
assessed values of the three LNG storage tanks located on Wilson St.
Mr. Bushway reported that the unexpended balance in the Assessors departmental budget
for FY 2010 should be adequate to sustain normal operations for the remainder of the
fiscal year.
The next meeting was scheduled for April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
