MSD Rainscaping Small Grants
Sample Rainscaping Landscape Design and Key
Instructions:
1. Use ¼ inch graph paper to draw a to-scale map of the area you propose to plant with rainscaping. You
may use more than one piece of graph paper if necessary. Refer to the Missouri Botanical Garden’s
Rainscaping Guide for ideas of different landscape features you can incorporate with rainscaping.
Remember to include your name and address on each drawing.

2. Refer to the key below and indicate on your map where all existing features are. Include a plant list that
corresponds to the design and includes quantities.
3. Refer to the key below and indicate on your map where proposed rainscaping features are to be installed.
4. For a detailed list of all the requirements for landscape designs, refer to the Landowner Handbook.

House and other buildings (evaluators are also interested in buildings on neighboring
