HomeMy Public PortalAboutExhibit MSD 69A- MSD response to Elaine Laura's letterApril 3, 2023 Rate Commission, wastewater + stormwater After your March 31,2023, meeting, MSD was asked to both respond to the attached document and to forward this information to the City of St. Louis Board of Aiderman. In response to the letter, MSD is required to use the data provided by the water providers in our service area as the basis for our wastewater billings. Besides the City of St. Louis Water, these sources include Missouri American Water, Kirkwood Water, and a few individually metered pumped groundwater sources. It is not appropriate for MSD to question the business practices of any of the separate entities that provide us with this information. MSD does realize that customers in the City of St. Louis that are unmetered are billed by St. Louis City Water, and thus by MSD, based on the attributes of their homes. As we understand, customers can switch to metered billing by having a water meter installed. Note that MSD does realize we have unmetered customers in the City of St. Louis and thus update the assumed flows per attribute on a regular basis, such as we have done in this Rate Proposal. MSD will continue to base our billing on the water usage data that is provided by the various water providers. As also requested, MSD will forward Elaine Laura’s letter as well as our response to the St. Louis Board of Aiderman.
