Comments:
To have the Board of Directors of the Lyn ~ood Information Incorporated provide
direction to staff regarding the publication of the City of Lynwood Community
Calendar for 2002.
Recommendation:
That the Board of Directors of Lynwood Information Incorporated provide direction
' to staff regarding the publishing of a 2002 community calendar.

:SUBJECT: City of Lynwood Community Calendar for 2002
PURPOSE:
To have the Board of Directors of the Lynwood Information Incorporated provide
direction to staff as to whether to publish the City of Lynwood Community Calendar for
" . the year 2002.
DISCUSSION:
Last year,. the Board of Directors of Lynwood Information Incorporated directed staff to
publish a City of Lynwood Community Calendar for the year 2001 for distribution to
every household in the city.
The City of Lynwood Community Calendar 2001 was published as a full color, 36-page
document that provided the following:
- A complete 2001 Calendar At A Glance
- Information_about City capital improvement projects, city developments, events
and activities
- Monthly listing of city meetings, including City Boards and Commissions
- City services and important telephone numbers
- Numerous photos of special events, new developments and capital improvements
The community calendar is in line with the goals of the Lynwood Strategic Plan,.
specifically Goal #5: To create and maintain awell-informed community; and Goal #7:
'' To create and maintain a pride filled community. Additionally, it is a response to the
'.need to help provide more information to residents.
Feedback from the community about the community calendar has been extremely
:positive. Staffreceived numerous calls from Lynwood residents indicating strong
approval. Many have cited the community calendar as an outstanding publication and the
,very first of this type that the City had provided to its residents.
.FISCAL IMPACT:
_ Funding to cover the cost of publishing a community calendar is available in the Strategic
Plan budget in Account # OS-5247-4230.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board. of Directors of Lynwood Information Incorporated provide direction to
staff regarding. the publication of a City of Lynwood Community Calendar for 2002.
