RESOLUTION NO. 11-8306
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO FREEZE ALL
HIRING EXCEPT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S
SWORN PERSONNEL THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2011,
EXCEPT WITH APPROVAL OF THE CITY
COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to freeze all hiring due to the ongoing budget
issues in the City; and
WHEREAS, the hiring freeze will affect all departments, except sworn personnel in the
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission that, before further employees are
hired (except those deemed absolutely necessary), the salaries of existing City employees are
addressed, particularly those making $30,000 per year, or less.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, authorizes a
freeze on all hiring, except for sworn personnel in the Police Department, effective immediately
through December 31, 2011, except with approval of the City Commission.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
