Board of Assessors
Minutes of Meeting of December 8, 2010
A regular meeting of the Board of Assessors was held on December 8, 2010 in the first floor
conference room at Town Hall. A Notice of Meeting was duly posted. The meeting commenced
at 5:25 p.m. In attendance were John Palmer, John Duffy, and Mary Jo Lafreniere, all the
members of the Board. Also in attendance was Robert Bushway, Principal Assessor.
The minutes of the meetings of November 2, 2010 and November 23, 2010 were approved.
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed a Bills Payable warrant in the amount of $393.31.
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed the November, 2010 monthly report of tax
abatements and exemptions as follows:
Automobile excise tax abatements 2008: $563.96
Automobile excise tax abatements 2010: $2231.46
Real estate tax abatement 2010: $855.77
CPA surtax abatement 2010: $17.12
Mr. Bushway discussed with the Board aspects of his weekend work opportunity with
Mayflower Valuations Ltd.
Mr. Bushway reported that the Town has received a gift of $1,000 in lieu of taxes from the
Laborers' Training Trust Fund to be credited to the Hopkinton Tax Relief Fund. Dr. Duffy will
inform members of the Tax Relief Fund Committee of the receipt of this gift.
Mr. Bushway shared with the Board fiscal information which validates the requirements for
Hopkinton's two Clause 41A Tax Deferral accounts.
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed one Real Estate Clause 41C tax exemption
application.
The Board denied one Real Estate tax exemption application. Required fiscal information was
not provided by the applicant.
The Board and Mr. Bushway discussed future agenda subjects.
The next meeting was scheduled for December 21, 2010 at 5:15 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
