Implementation Time Line: December 15, 2011
Legislative History: Resolution#10-8139, #09-7962, and#08-7366
Recommendation(s): Staff recommends approval because; there is great saving in using
these services through the Department of Corrections Work Squad Program. Under normal
circumstances the cost of the manpower will be significantly higher.
Analysis: The City of Opa-locka, by using Work Squad 622 is making the most cost efficient
use of manpower ever seen. It allows Public Works to do more work in order to
keep the City clean. Furthermore, I would recommend requesting an addition Work
Squad in order to maintain all the City alleys including trimming the trees.
