HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-8334 Investigate Alternative Space for City Offices Sponsored by: Mayor Taylor RESOLUTION NO. 12-8334 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE ALTERNATIVE SPACE FOR CITY OFFICES TO THE CURRENT LOCATION AT TOWN CENTER PROPERTIES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka currently leases space at 780 Fisherman Street, Opa- locka, in the Town Center Properties building; and WHEREAS, the current leasing arrangement costs the City a substantial amount of money on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, in recent years the City has experienced a number of budget issues which have posed difficulties in balancing the City's budget, although these difficulties have always been solved; and WHEREAS, the City needs to reduce its annual expenditure of funds on leasing office space in order to provide for the needs of the citizens and residents of Opa-locka. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, directs the City Manager to investigate other, less costly alternatives to the current lease of office space at Town Center Properties, 780 Fisherman Street, Opa-locka, and to provide a preliminary report on this investigation to the City Commission no later than the first City Commission meeting in March. Resolution No. 12-8334 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
