HomeMy Public PortalAboutSUST_MSD Clean Water Flyer_2023MSD Project Clear Clean Water Education A Free Stormwater Education Program for St. Louis City and County schools within MSD Project Clear Service Area The MSDPC Clean Water Education program is presented by Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center in partnership with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Project Clear. Stormwater and the health of our nearby rivers, creeks, and streams are ever-increasing challenges in our community—and it takes all of us to help! The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Project Clear (MSDPC) Clean Water Education program provides educators throughout the MSD Project Clear service area with resources to help bring this topic to life in their classroom through hands-on demonstrations, action projects, and more. Learn: Reserve a Watershed EnviroScape® Model for Your Classroom The EnviroScape® is a visual, hands-on tool that shows how water pollution can result from everyday activities. • Reservation and use of the model is FREE! • EarthWays Center staff will drop-off and pick-up the model. • Staff will provide FREE training and teaching aids on how to use the model with your class. • Explore the connections between human impact and Earth. • Discuss ways to reduce the impact of water pollution on rivers, creeks and streams. Take Action: Engage Students with the Storm Drain Marking Take it one step further and engage your students in an action project that benefits your community! We provide all the tools and equipment your group needs to help put knowledge into action. MSDPC’s Storm Drain Marker Program provides a visible reminder of the impacts of improper waste disposal and helps communicate to the community that storm drains can carry pollution to rivers and streams. This is a great hands-on project for schools, scouts, and community groups that want to make a difference now! Want to learn more about stormwater? Join us for a free workshop! Get started in building your knowledge and understanding of stormwater issues in our area. The MSDPC Clean Water Education program is presented by Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center in partnership with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Project Clear. During this hands-on workshop we will: • Train YOU on how to use the popular Watershed and Water Treatment EnviroScape® models. Models are available for loan FREE; workshop participants will receive priority in reserving models. • Learn more about the issues related to stormwater management and water quality in our community. Topics covered include: point and non-point source pollution, impact, and best management practices/solutions. • Discover how to connect this topic to state standards though meaningful, engaging, and hands-on learning opportunities! Participating educators* will receive a $100 stipend, access to digital copies of the MSDPC Clean Water Education lessons and materials, and priority reservations. *Must be a formal educator from Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District Project Clear service area to receive a stipend.
