HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-8357 To Increase Code Enforcement Efforts in the Nile Gardens Area Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 12-8357 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE CODE ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS WITHIN THE NILE GARDENS AREA BY IMPLEMENTING A CODE ENFORCEMENT NILES GARDENS AREA IMPLEMENTATION PLAN, AS PART OF THE TRANSFORMATION PLAN FOR THE CHOICE NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVE (CNI) APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka City Commission strongly supports the Opa-locka Community Development Corporation's (CDC) Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI) application; and WHEREAS, an implementation plan to increase code enforcement in the Nile Gardens area shall be created; and WHEREAS, the estimated in-kind value of the increased enforcement is $82,000 over a five year period,based on the cost of one code enforcement officer at 40%; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to authorize the City manger to create an implementation Code Enforcement Plan for Nile Gardens area, and authorize the City Manager to increase code enforcement efforts in the Nile Gardens area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, hereby authorizes the City Manager to create and implement a Code Enforcement Plan for Nile Gardens that will assist in code enforcement efforts within Nile Gardens at an estimated in-kind value in the amount of$82,000 over a five year period. Resolution No. 12-8357 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. Staff Summary: The Opa-locka Community Development Corporation has requested that the City of Opa-locka pass a resolution directing the City Manager to increase code enforcement efforts within the Nile Gardens area by creating a Code Enforcement Strategic Plan. The estimated in-kind value to the affected area is $82,000 over a five year period, based on the cost of one cost enforcement officer at 40%.
