Stat. Sec. 13D.021. Park Commission Chair Ann Thies presided. 1) Call to Order Commissioners Present: Ann Thies, Mary Morrison, Steve Lee, John Jacob, Troy Hutchinson, Terry Sharp (left at 8:23 p.m.) Commissioners Absent: Angela Bernhardt Also Present: Public Works Director Steve Scherer, Assistant City Administrator Jodi Gallup, City Council Member John Anderson 2) Additions to the Agenda: None. 3) Approval of the Minutes from: May 20, 2020 Meeting A motion was made by Jacob and seconded by Morrison to approve the minutes from May 20, 2020 as presented. A roll call vote was taken: Park Commissioner Ann Thies - aye Park Commissioner Terry Sharp - aye Park Commissioner Mary Morrison - aye Park Commissioner Steve Lee - aye Park Commissioner John Jacob – aye Park Commission Troy Hutchinson – aye Motion passed unanimously. 4) Public Comments (on items not on the agenda): None. 5) City Council Update City Council Member Anderson provided an update on recent City Council actions. 6) 2021-2025 Capital Improvement Plan The Park Commission began reviewing the city’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to plan for future capital park and trail projects over the next five years. The Park Commissioners reviewed the updated Park & Trail Asset Inventory to determine what assets needed to be budgeted for replacement. The following changes were incorporated into the 2021-2025 Capital Improvement Plan:  Hamel Legion Park – budget $50,000 from Municipal Park Fund in 2023 Medina Park Commission Meeting Minutes June 17, 2020 Page 2 of 2  Hunter Lions Park – budget $300,000 in 2021 and $200,000 in 2022 from Municipal Park Fund  Walnut Park – delete “basketball hoop striping”  Medina Morningside Park – delete “replace baseball backstop”  Hackamore Trail – increase budget line items in 2021 and 2023 to actual engineer estimates  Park Land by Medina Golf & CC/Trail Corridor – delete $500,000 from 2022 and add $250,000 in 2025 from Park Dedication Fund A motion was made by Lee and seconded by Jacob to recommend changes to the 2021- 2025 Capital Improvement Plan. A roll call vote was taken: Park Commissioner Ann Thies - aye Park Commissioner Terry Sharp - aye Park Commissioner Mary Morrison - aye Park Commissioner Steve Lee - aye Park Commissioner John Jacob – aye Park Commission Troy Hutchinson – aye Motion passed unanimously. 7) Staff Report  2020 Park Commission Goals – Park Commissioners reviewed the 2020 goals. Thies reminded Park Commissioners to meet with their subcommittees. Gallup stated that she would reach out to our playground company to see if they can put together options for Lakeshore Park.  General Items – Lee asked how the City of Medina deals with Emerald Ash Borer in our parks? Scherer explained that the City has a separate tree fund to deal with replacing trees. 8) Adjourn A motion was made by Lee, seconded by Morrison, to adjourn the meeting. A roll call vote was taken: Park Commissioner Ann Thies - aye Park Commissioner Mary Morrison - aye Park Commissioner Steve Lee - aye Park Commissioner John Jacob – aye Park Commission Troy Hutchinson – aye Motion passed unanimously.
