Box 607 Greencastle, Indiana 46135 GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL OPENING SESSION MINUTES Monday, January 5, 2004 7:30 P.M. City Hall The Greencastle Common Council met in Opening Session Monday, January 5, 2004, 7:30 P.M. at City Hall. Mayor Nancy Michael called the meeting to Order at 7:30 P.M. welcoming newly elected Councilor's Russ Evans and John Lanie. Clerk- Treasurer, Teresa Glenn called the roll. All council members were in attendance: Councilor Mark Hammer, Councilor Russ Evans, Councilor Bob Sedlack, Councilor Toni Roach and Councilor John Lanie. The first order of business in the Opening Session is to elect the Council President. Councilor Sedlack nominated Councilor Roach, seconded by Councilor Lanie. Motion to close nominations and elect Councilor Roach as Council President was made by Councilor Hammer, seconded by Councilor Evans. Upon being put to the vote, the motion was approved unanimously. The next item was to set the date, time and place of the Common Council Meetings. Councilor hammer moved to continue meeting on the second Tuesday of each month, 7:00 P.M. at City Hall, seconded by Councilor Lanie, carried by unanimous vote of council. A motion made by Council President Roach, seconded by Councilor Hammer and carried to accept the following Council assignments to various Board and Commissions: Plan Commission Councilor Hammer Park Board Councilor Evans Economic Development Comm. Councilor Roach Tree Board Councilor Roach Cable Access Councilor Sedlack Chamber of Commerce Councilor Sedlack Putnam County Comm. Foundation Councilor Lanie Main Street Greencastle Councilor Evans Greencastle /Putnam Co. Dev. Ctr. Councilor Lanie Putnam County 911 Mayor Michael A motion by Councilor Hammer, seconded by President Roach with unanimous approval to continue the current appointments of Steve Gauly and Jim Ruark t5o the Redevelopment Commission. It was duly noted by Mayor Michael that the Council appointment of Jeffrey McCall to the Greencastle Community School Board would expire in this June. She reminded the Council this appointment will need to publicized in March and selection made by May. (A'f On a motion by President Roach, second by Councilor Sedlack and unanimously approved by Council, the following department liaisons were assigned: Fire Department Forest Hill Cemetery Parks and Recreations Police Department Street Department Wastewater Treatment Water Works Councilor Lanie Councilor Evans Councilor Evans Councilor Hammer Councilor Sedlack Councilor Sedlack Councilor Roach Councilor Hammer shared with all, that the liaison works with department supervisors during budget process as their advocate.
