RESOLUTION NO 91-77
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING A FOUR DAY PER WEEK, TEN HOUR PER DAY
WORK SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, the Southern California Air Quality Management
District (AQMD) has required that all large Southern California
employers institute trip reduction plans in order to reduce
traffic and thereby improve air quality; and
WHEREAS, as part of its trip reduction program the City of
Lynwood implemented a 10 hour, four day work week on a six
month trial; and
WHEREAS, both public and employee reaction to the trial
4/10 plan has been favorable with no reduction in public service
or employee morale resulting from the plan; and
WHEREAS, continuation of the 4/10 plan will result in a
continuation of Lynwood's contribution to reduced traffic
congestion and smog and is therefore in the best interest of the
community as a whole;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of
Lynwood as follows;
SECTION 1.
The 4/10 Plan which was instituted by the City of Lynwood on a
trial basis has resulted in a contribution of significant public
benefit.
SECTION 2.
Continuation of the 4/10 Plan on a permanent basis is in the
public interest, therefore said plan is hereby instituted on a
permanent basis and the elements of said plan shall remain as the
City of Lynwood's working hours until modified by the City
Council via resolution duly adopted.
SECTION 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of
this Resolution and it shall thereupon be in fu11 force and
effect,
