FOR SANITARY SEWER CLEAi'lING Ai'lD EVALUATION HERiYIAi'IN AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION .WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer, Donald J. Norbut has advised the Governing Body that sanitary sewer cleaning and evaluation needs to be performed on a portion of the Hermann Avenue Reconstruction Project; and WHEREAS, the Engineer has advised that due to the size of the 30" sanitary sewer within Hermann Avenue, the Borough Sewer Department will not be able to televise the line with its current equipment and has advised that the Mayor and Council should consider hiring an outside sewer service contractor to do this work which may potentially threaten the welfare of Borough restdents occupymg me facilities serviced by the sanitary sewers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that a contract with Oswald Enterprises, Inc. for sanitary sewer cleaning and evaluation needs to be performed on a portion of the Hermann Avenue Reconstruction Project at a cost not to exceed $17,500.00 is hereby approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOL YED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough Engineer and the Borough's purchasing Department to effectuate the purposes expressed herein. Dear Mr. DuPont: As you are aware, each year as part ofthe Borough's Road Improvement Program, the Sewer Department cleans and televises sanitary sewers within the affected roadways. The purpose of the internal inspections is to identity pipe defects which require repair prior to the road paving. However, this year, due to the size of the 30" sanitary sewer within Hennann Avenue, the Borough will not be able to televise the line with its current equipment. Therefore, the Borough should consider hiring an outside sewer service contractor to clean and televise the Hennann Avenue sewer line. In order 10 assist the Borough in this matter, we have solicited the following two infomial quotes for the sewer work in question (See attached estimated cost summaries). 1. Oswald Enterprises Inc. 2. National Water Main Cleaning Co. $23,500 $26,500 There is approximately 1,300 feet 000" and 300 feet of 10" sanitary seWer to be televised within Hennann Avenue. Should the Borough decide to proceed with this work, we recommend that the work be completed within the next 30 days so the potential sewer repair work can be coordinated with the Hennann A venue road reconstruction.
