Looking at integrating this with a contest around identifying creative ways to recycle, how you can be more green, or how the library can be more green. Would have Sustainability Committee members be contest judges. Could put the responses on the Sustainability website. Could potentially donate a book or other media around recycling. Potential Sustainability Committee activities could include: - provide a “kid-friendly” recycling discussion, - growing tomato’s, - talk about composting, - look at how different material bags decompose over time, - provide compost boxes for display (one with worms, one without). Program needs to be ready by 3rd week of May and runs through July and August. Age group is 3-12. Ann will coordinate on our side; she will have a plan at next meeting. Library also has some green items that they sell. o Green Up Day Police can and will use reverse 911 message to make townspeople aware of cleanup activities going on Saturday, May 1. Dumpsters will be available at Sandy Beach (Harvey’s are donating this one), behind Middle School, and behind Town Hall. Carol Dykstra will be attending. Limited returns via email. Have not heard from Phil re Dept of Correction. Requested that we all email out to friends. Were articles in the Independent and Crier. Encourage any pictures be sent to Ann. Will also send something to Jim Cousins to get info on town website. o Green Communities Application The Green Communities Application is due May 14. The Grant Application is due May 28. Reviewed the package of information assembled to date for the application. John provided copies of reports that he has been able to capture around the energy baseline item.
