A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HIRING OF A CITY MAINTENANCE
EMPLOYEE AND DECLARING A CLASS OF PERSONNEL RECORDS
CONFIDENTIAL PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE SECTION 22.7.
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Riverdale ("Riverdale") has determined that it
would be in the best interests of the city to hire an employee to monitor and attend to the city's
ongoing maintenance needs; and
WHEREAS, Riverdale is in the process of preparing applications for the new temporary
maintenance position; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is advised and finds that potential candidates will be discouraged
from applying for the position if their applications were made public on account of potential
conflicts with their current employer or otherwise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa,
that the City Clerk is authorized to prepare and accept applications for the maintenance position,
to advertise the open position, and to coordinate the interviewing process for applicants.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor is authorized to extend an offer of temporary
employment to the most qualified applicant, at his discretion, for part-time employment for a
wage of $_ 15.00 per hour and a term of 6 months.
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the applications and any documents created from the applications
that contain the names or other personally identifiable information regarding the applicants for
the maintenance position be treated as confidential pursuant to Iowa Code Section 22.7, unless
public disclosure is authorized by the applicant or a subsequent determination is made that the
records are not confidential under Iowa Code Section 22.7.
This Resolution shall take immediate effect.
