RESOLUTION NO. 12-8422
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE METHODS
AND MEANS OF CANCELLING THE CITY'S
CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN TRAFFIC
SOLUTIONS (ATS) FOR RED LIGHT CAMERAS;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka has a contract with American Traffic Solution (ATS)
for providing"red light cameras" to enforce traffic safety at intersections; and
WHEREAS, the program has not worked as anticipated, either in terms of safety
improvement or as a source of revenue for the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka is desirous of terminating
the contract with American Traffic Solutions (ATS).
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, hereby directs the City
Manager to investigate methods and means of cancelling the City's contract with American
Traffic Solutions (ATS) for"red light cameras" to enforce traffic safety at intersections in the
City of Opa-locka,whether through negotiations or unilateral actions if necessary.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
