CITY OF MEDINA
Resolution No. 7/
RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE
HENNEPIN COUNTY FAIR IS A USE
PROHIBITED IN THE RURAL
RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Agricultural Society (Applicant) has
applied for permission to locate the Hennepin County Fair on property in Medina
which is zoned rural residential (RR); and
WHEREAS, the zoning administrator has reviewed the request and the list of
uses allowed within the RR district and determined that a fair is not among those
uses nor is it sufficiently similar to any listed use within the RR zoning district so
as to be considered an allowed use; and
WHEREAS, on October 8, 1991 the planning commission considered the
Applicant's request and concurred in the decision of the zoning administrator
regarding the permissibility of the county fair within the RR district; and
WHEREAS, the city council, sitting as the board of adjustment, has also
reviewed the matter and heard testimony from the Applicant thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the board of adjustment of the
City of Medina, Minnesota as follows:
1. A county fair is not a use allowed as of of right in the RR district,
nor is it an allowable conditional or accessory use in that zone.
2. A county fair is not sufficiently similar to any listed as of right,
conditional or accessory use in the RR district so as to be considered permissible
under the City's zoning ordinance.
3. For the above reasons, permission to locate the Hennepin County Fair
in any property withinthe City which is zoned R is hereby denied.
