Mr. Maley said that the South Florida Water Management District would
be meeting in the area to discuss proposed water conservation regulations
and that someone would attend.
The Council reviewed the statements from Security Trust Company for
the Employees Pension Trust as of December 31, 1981.
The council noted that the Dade County Planning Department will hold
a meeting on the future land use in the Sunny Isles area on February 3rd.
Mr. Sherman reviewed some of the items the Planning Department is con-
sidering. Mr. Taplin suggested that a uniform sign ordinance should be
adopted for the area.
Miss Gray asked if anyting could be done to keep people from fishing
in front of the apartment building west of Bakers Haulover bridge. Mr.
Maley said Mr. Gold was preparing a "No Fishing" ordinance for this area.
Mr. Printup reported that he had attended a Florida League of Cities meet-
ing in Tallahassee last week and the League is pushing the 1% additional
sales tax for tax relief to cities and counties.
On motion of Miss Gray, seconded by Mr. Sherman, the meeting was
adjourned at 10:45 A.M.

COUNCIL MINUTES
January 26, 1982
The Council of Bal Harbour Village met Tuesday, January 26, 1982
at 9:30 A.M. in the Village Hall.
Present: Messrs. Beatty, Printup, Sherman, Taplin and Miss Gray
Also present were Fred W. Maley, Village Manager; Mary T. Wetterer,
Village Clerk; and Alan S. Gold, Village Attorney.
On motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Miss Gray and voted the minutes of
December 8, 1981 and January 19, 1982 were approved as submitted.
Mr. Maley reported that he had visited the five engineering firms
selected by himself, our Building Inspector and our Public Works Super-
intendent to interview their personnel. He said that he had just finished
the visits and was not ready to make a recommendation. It was moved by Mr Beatty,
Mr. Taplin and voted that a special meeting would be held one week from
today, February 2nd. to interview the firm to be recommended by Mr. Maley.

Mr. Maley said he had received three proposals for renovating
the landscaping in the Collins Avenue median strip; Melrose
Nursery, $25,557; J. D. Thornton, $34,801; and Griffen Brothers,
$40,705. It was moved by Mr. Taplin, seconded by Miss Cray and
voted that the bid by Melrose Nursery be accepted.
Mr. Gold imported that he had met with a representative from
the Sheraton Hotel and the Village's noise engineer and was working
on the Noise Ordinance for the next meeting.
Mr. Gold explained that due to the nuisance and safety of the
public fishing on the west side of Bakers Haulover bridge he has
proposed an ordinance prohibiting fishing in that area. Mr. Gold
read proposed Ordinance No. 236 in full. On motion of Miss Gray,
seconded by Mr. Sherman and voted the ordinance was adopted on first
reading
Mr. Hamner was not present to speak his requested agenda item on re-
districting.
Mr. Maley reported that we were notified by the Dade County Public
Works Department that they are replacing the "No Stopping and No
Standing" signs on Collins Avenue.
Mr. Maley said he had spoken to Miss Visavitch and that Judge
Hoeveler has still not ruled on the Great Takes Dredge and Dock
Company litigation.
Mr. Marshall Carpenter, General Manager of UltraCom, Inc. brought
the council up to date on their progress with the installation of
cable TV throughout the village. He reported that installations at
the Balmoral and Plaza were complete and they were working on the Bal
Harbour 101. He said that by the end of February the whole area should
be activitated. The only section of the village that was not put in
jointly with the new telephone company cables was the apartment
buildings from 9910 to 10190 Collins Avenue and they will be served
by running the wires through the park behind them.
On motion of Mr. Taplin, seconded by Missy the meeting was
adjourned at 10:40 A.M.
