AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, DESIGNATING THE
PROPERTIES SELECTED BY THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION FOR
THE 2010 LANDMARK AWARDS.
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, the City of Jefferson Historic
Preservation Commission (CJHPC) is required to evaluate properties within
the City for potential designation as a historic landmark; and,
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code,a property is eligible for land mark
designation if the CJHPC determines that it meets any of the following
criteria:
A. The potential landmark is in an identifiable
neighborhood or distinct geographical area which has
historic and/or cultural importance to the city; or
B. The potential landmark is associated with a particular
prominent person, a significant event or historical
period; or
C. Thepotential landmark exhibits a particular architectural
style or school, or are associated with a particular
architect, engineer, builder, designer or craftsman; or
D. The potential landmark contains historic, prehistoric and
archaeological features,evidence and/or artifacts which
have the potential to contribute to the understanding of
historic and prehistoric cultures.
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the Missouri
Association of Counties as the owner of the Home of Robert E. Young, 516
E. Capital, has applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark;
and,
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the City of
Jefferson has applied for designation of the MSP Site - H-Hall Unit# 1, 115
N. Lafayette as a historic landmark, as the location is publically owned; and,

WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the City of
Jefferson has applied for designation of the Cole County Jail-Sheriff's Home,
301 E. High Street, as a historic landmark, as the location is publically
owned; and,
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Dunklin Street
Properties, as the owner of the Neighorn House, 120-122 E. Dunklin, has
applied for designation of the building as a historic landmark; and,
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the City of
Jefferson, along with the Parks and Recreation Commission, has applied for
designation of the Washington Park Shelter,1203 Missouri Blvd, as a historic
landmark, as the location is publically owned; and,
WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, the Missouri
Farm Bureau as the owner of the Joseph and Elizabeth Wallendorf House,
701 South County Club Drive, has applied for designation of the building as
a historic landmark.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Home of Robert E. Young (516 E. Capitol) is hereby designed as
• historic landmark.
Section 2. MSP Housing Unit# 1 /H-Hall (115 N. Lafayette) is hereby designed as
• historic landmark.
Section 3. The Cole County Jail / Sheriff's Home (301 E. High Street) is hereby
designed as a historic landmark.
Section 4. The Neighorn House (120-122 E. Dunklin) is hereby designed as a
historic landmark.
Section 5. The Washington Park Shelter (1203 Missouri Blvd) is hereby designed
as a historic landmark.
Section 6. The Joseph and Elizabeth Wallendorf House (701 South Country Club)
is hereby designed as a historic landmark.
Section 7. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to cause the
appropriate plaque to be provided to the owners of the designated sites.

Section 8. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date
of its passage and approval.
