The Council of Bal Harbour Village met Tuesday, February 2, 1982,
in the Village Hall for the purpose of selecting a new engineer of
record for Bal Harbour Village.
Present: Messrs. Beatty, Printup, Sherman and Taplin
Absent: Miss Gray
Also present were Fred W. Maley, Village Manager and Mary T. Wetterer,
Village Clerk.
Mr. Maley reviewed for the council the personnel breakdown of
the five firms recomgended from the twenty applicants for village
engineer. He also noted the amount of work done by the firms in
both public and private sector. He said he wished to reconmend for
Engineer of Record for Bal Harbour the firm of Ludovici and Orange, Inc.
who have done some work for the village in the past. Messrs. Neil
Orange, Ron Martin, and Dan Ditzenberger of Ludovici and Orange, Inc.
made a brief presentation of some of their projects and reviewed their
past personal work experiences. The council discussed with them the
pending projects for the village of the public works garage and
residential street improvements. Also discussed were fee schedules
and their availability for public meetings. On motion of Mr. Taplin,
seconded by Mr. Beatty and voted Ludovici. and Orange, Inc. were
appointed as Engineer of Record for Bal Harbour.
The Village Clerk explained that our Village Code makes no pro-
visions for "For Sale" signs on improved apartment lots west of
Collins. She presented a request from Alan Martin Real Estate Com-
pany for a 6" x 8" sign to be placed in front of the Lanai Apart-
mentd, 10210 Collins Avenue. It was moved by Mr. Beatty, seconded
by Mr. Sherman and voted that the sign be permitted.
Mr. Maley presented the Audit for the year ending September
30, 1981 together with the auditor's Management letter. After
a brief review of both items it was agreed that the council would
look them over and discuss it at the next meeting.
On motion of Mr. Taplin, seconded by Mr. Beatty, the meeting was
adjourned at 10:50 A.M.
