HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD-CC-1962-01.r' ORDINANCE NO. 1 -62 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION .3-2-28 OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF MOAB CITY, 1958, AND DECLARING THAT THE ORDINANCE IS A MEA _, SURE NECESSARY FOR THE IMPvIEDIATE PEACE, HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF MOAB, AND SHALL TAKE EFFECT UPON ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICA TION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOAB, UTAH: THAT Section 3-2-28 of The Revised Ordinances of Moab, City, 1958, be, and the same is, hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 3-2-28: RATES AND CHARGES. (a) The rates for water supplied through meters to all places by Moab City shall be as follows: - RATE NO. 1. Commercial, within City Limits. Minimum Charge, 3,000 gallons or less per month, $3. 50 Next 47,000 gallons @ 304 per thousand Next 50,000 gallons @ 264 per thousand Next 400,000 gallons @ per thousand Next 500,000 gallons @ 19 per thousand All over 1,000,000 gallons per month @ 16 per thousand. The above rates shall apply to all uses within the city limits including multiple dwellings, duplex dwellings and apartment houses, but excluding single family dwellings. RATE NO. 2. Residential, within City Limits. Minimum Charge, 2,000 gallons or less per month, $2. 50 All over 2,000 gallons per month @ 224 per thousand The above rates shall apply to all single family residential, use within the City Limits, Where more than one single-family dwelling is served through a single meter, a minimum charge shall be made for each family dwelling thus served, with credit being given for a corresponding quantity of water on the total consumption. All excess water shall be at the rate of 24 per thousand gallons. RATE NO. 3. Commercial, outside the City Limits. Minimum Charge, 3000 gallons or less per month, $7. 00 Next 47,000 gallons @ 604 per thousand. Next 50,000 gallons @ 52 per thousand Next 400,000 gallons @ 464 per thousand. Next 500,000 gallons @ .38} per thousand. All over 1,000,000 gallons per month @ 32 per thousand. -2- RATE NO. 4. Residential Outside the City Limits. Minimum Charge, 2,000 gallons or less per month $5. 00. AU over 2, 000 gallons per month @ 4,4 per thousand gallons. The above rates shall apply to all uses outside the City Li.mits and within a radius of 2 miles of the intersection of Center and Main Streets in the City of Moab. Water used outside the specified radius shall be charged for at a rate to be negotiated by the Moab City Council and the individual water user requesting such service. Within the Corporate Limits of Moab City (b) The rates for sewer service shall be as follows: (1) For residences, $3.00 per family unit per month. (2) For commercial enterprises when toilet facilities' are used by employees only, there shall be a minimum charge of $3. 00 per month. (3) For commercial enterprises and churches, when toilet facilities are used by the public, there shall be a mini- mum charge of $3.00 per month plus $1.75 per month for each toilet in excess of two. (4) For motels or hotelB there shall be a minimum charge of $3. 00 per month plus $1. 75 per month for each toilet in excess of two. (5) For schools, there shall be a charge of $4. 00 per month for each 100 pupils which may be paid on an annual basis. (6) For other than one -family residence, any person or firm using water which is not furnished to them from the Moab City water sewer system shall, at their own expense and under the supervision of Moab City, install a meter in the water or sewer line, in which case the schedule of charge shall be the same as those listed under B-2 of this para- graph for commercial enterprises. (7) Rates for sewer services furnished outside the corporate limits of Moab City shall be exactly twice the rates above indicated for services within the corporate limits of Moab City. (c) SPECIAL RATES. The City Council may, from time to time fix special rates and conditions for users who use an exceptionally large or small amount of water upon such terms and conditions as they may deem proper. -3-- (d) FAILURE OF METER TO REGISTER. If any meter gets out of order and fails to register, the water user shall be charged for the time it was out of order at the average daily rate as registered by the meter when in order. " THAT The City Council finds and declares that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of this City that this Ordinance take effect upon its passage and publication. Passed by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council of the City of Moab, Utah, present, this 6 TA day of January, A. D., 1962.
