Report of the
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
May 10 , 1993
In accordance with the warrant the Special Town Meeting was held in
the Brewster Elementary School Cafetorium , Monday , May 10 , 1993 .
The Meeting was called to order at 7 : 15 p . m . by the Moderator ,
Stephen L . Doyle . The Tellers were June Gallant , Ruth Hanlon ,
Eleanor Nielsen and Jean Gage . The Checkers were Sherry Ryder ,
Elizabeth Hardy , Robert Hardy , Catherine Flaherty , Sharon Morgan ,
Mildred Unger , John Unger , Patricia Kelsey , Lois Curcio and Liana
Rasmussen .
A quorum was present .
The Town Clerk , Joan K . Cole , read the Special Town Meeting warrant
and the return of the warrant . There being no objection the
Moderator dispensed with the reading of all the articles ,
ARTICLE 1 , To see if the Town will vote to transfer from
available funds the sum of One Hundred and 00 / 100 ( $ 100 . 00 ) Dollars
to pay the Commonwealth of Massachusetts , Department of
Environmental Protection , an unpaid bill from a previous fiscal
year , or to take any other action relative thereto .

MOTION : I move that the Town vote to approve Article no . 1 as
printed in the warrant and to transfer the sum of $ 100 . 00 from Line
Item no . 10 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting for
this purpose .
ACTION : ADOPTED UNANIMOUSLY
ARTICLE 2 . To see if the Town will vote to transfer from
available funds and / or appropriate from surplus funds in some
departments an amount of money to be used in conjunction with funds
appropriated under current fiscal year budgets to be used during
the current fiscal year to pay shortfalls that would otherwise
exist in the Fiscal Year 1993 Budget of other departments , or to
tape any other action relative thereto .

MOTION : I move that the Town vote to approve Article no . 2 and to
transfer various funds to finance the Fiscal Year 1993 shortfalls ,
as follows :
a ) . Transfer the sum of $ 4 , 500 . 00 from Line Item no . 10 of
Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting ( Legal Services )
to Line Item no . 21 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town
Meeting ( Town Offices Maintenance Wages ) ;
b ) . Transfer the sum of $ 7 , 000 . 00 from Line no . 10 of Article
no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting ( Legal Services ) to Line
Item no . 26 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting
( Fringe Benefits ) ;
c ) . Transfer the sum of $ 1 , 775 . 00 from Line Item no . 10 of
Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting ( Legal Services )
to Line Item no . 36 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town
Meeting ( Plumbing Inspector Wages ) ;

e ) . Transfer the sum of $ 16 , 200 . 00 from Line Item no . 10 of
Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting ( Legal Services )
to Line Item no . 42 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town
Meeting ( Snow & Ice Control ) ;
f ) . Transfer the sum of $ 4 , 000 . 00 from Line Item no . 10 of
Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town Meeting ( Legal Services )
to Line Item no . 9 of Article no . 4 of the 1992 Annual Town
Meeting ( Town Treasurer / Collector Expenses ) .
ACTION : ADOPTED
ARTICLE 3 . To see if the Town will vote to amend CHAPTER 179 ,
ZONING BYLAW of the Code of Brewster ; ARTICLE VI , SECTION 179 - 20 . 3 ,
OFF PREMISES SIGNS , Subsection C . Signs permitted at certain
intersections by adding to ( 1 ) Signs are permitted at the following
intersections of public ways which service commercial areas ,
preexisting businesses or town - owned community facilities :
( g . ) Route No . 124 and Route No . 137 ,
or to take any action relative thereto .

MOTION : I move that the Town vote to approve Article no . 3 as
printed in the warrant .
ACTION : ADOPTED YES 302 NO 11
ARTICLE 4 . To act on any other business that may legally come
before this meeting .
MOTION : I move that the Town vote to adjourn the May 10 , 1993
Special Town Meeting .
ACTION : ADOPTED UNANIMOUSLY
MEETING ADJOURNED at 7 : 25 p . m .
