HomeMy Public PortalAbout1992-023RESOLUTION 9).- -a3 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROJECTED USE OF FUNDS FOR YEAR XVIII OF THE URBAN HENNEPIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Medina , through execution of a Joint Cooperation Agreement with Hennepin County, is cooperating in the Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Medina has developed a proposal for the use of Urban Hennepin County CDBG funds made available to it, and held a public hearing on March 17, 1992 to obtain the views of citizens on local and Urban Hennepin County housing and community development needs and the City's proposed use of $ 15283 from the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant. BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Medina approves the following projects for funding from the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant program related and applicable program income and authorizes submittal of the proposal to Hennepin County for review and inclusion in the Year XVIII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block Grant Program Statement of Objectives and Projected Use of Funds. Location: Address Hamel Area Citywide (Attach map.) 5. Description: (Describe the project in as much detail as possible. Identify the Urban County objective/s to be met; provide a statement of anticipated results; identify what, if any alternative funding sources have been considered for the project; and for a multi -year project, describe the program accomplishments to date.) This project will utilize a consulting engineering firm to prepare a storm water management plan for a portion of the Hamel area within the city of Medina. This plan will provide the city with detailed information on what drain easements will be required and what type and size of storm water structures will be needed. The goal is to prevent the reoccuring problem of soil errosion and flooding of the Hamel Legion Park, and to provide a long term solution to storm water management problems that occur in this area of the city. This project is the first step of a city wide storm water management plan. 6. Implementation Schedule: (Identify the major project tasks to be performed during implementation and their timing.) This project will utilize the services of a professional planner. The goals of this project are to provide the city with a comprehensive Flan of park and trail need for the future. Park locations, size and types will be determined to coincide with planned city development. A trail system will be developed to establish use and location. The trail system will be de- signed to be compatable with trail systems of surrounding cities and Morris Baker Park. 6.
