RESOLUTION NO. 12-8484
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA-LOCKA, TO SUPPORT ORDINANCE RELATING TO
MERCHANDISING OF FLAVORED TOBACCO PRODUCTS,
AMENDING SECTIONS 8A-A THROUGH 8A-8.4 AND 8CC-10
OF THE CODE OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA;
PROHIBITING PLACEMENT OF FLAVORED TOBACCO
PRODUCTS THAT RESEMBELE CANDY, IN SELF-SERVICE
OPEN DISPLAYS ACCESSIBLE TO MINORS; PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County had its first reading of their Ordinance amending
Sections 8A-8 through 8A-8.4 and 8CC-10 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida; and
WHEREAS, amending Sections 81-8 through 8A-8.4, prohibits placement of flavored
tobacco products, in self-service open displays accessible to minors; and
WHEREAS, amending Section 8CC-10 of the Code of Miami Dade, provide penalties
relating to flavored tobacco products displays; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission desires to support Miami-Dade County amendment of
Sections 8A-8 through 8A-8.4, prohibiting placement of Flavored Tobacco Products, in self-
service open displays accessible to minors and amending 8CC of the Code to provide penalties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby supports Miami-
Dade County amendment of Sections 8A-8 through 8A-8.4 of the Miami-Dade County Code,
prohibiting placement of flavored tobacco products, in self-service open displays accessible to

minors; providing for intent, definitions, and enforcement, and amending 8CC-10 of the Code to
provide penalties.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
