Work Session - Call to Order 6:15 PM
A. Roll Call
The City of Tiffin City Council held a work session Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the City Hall Council
Chambers. This was a meeting open to the public through the Iowa Open Meeting Law but due to the
current public health emergency (Covid-19) most councilpersons were participating in the meeting
electronically as allow by the Iowa Code, Chapter 21. Mayor Berner called the meeting to order at 6:25
PM. Upon roll being called the following members were present: Jim Bartels present via phone, Eric
Schnedler, Rodney Walls, Christine Olney, Al Havens present via Microsoft Teams. Others present
were City Administrator Doug Boldt, City Clerk Abigail Hora, Building Official Brian Shay and City
Attorney Robert Michael.
B. Agenda Additions/Agenda Approval
Motion to approve agenda by Schnedler
Second by Havens
All ayes, agenda approved.
C. Discussion and Review of Roundabout Center Enhancement
Discussion: Reviewed Roundabout design with Council.
D. Discussion of Potential City of Tiffin Rental Code
Discussion: Council Members and Building Official Brian Shay discussed potential rental code.
E. Questions from Council Members regarding items on the Regular City Council Agenda

D. Communications and Reports

the agenda is reached. If you wish to address the City Council on an item not on the agenda, please approach the lectern
and give your name and address for the public record before discussing your item.
Discussion: Dick Huff present via phone and addressed some concerns. Thanks Council for putting up the street light on
Roberts Ferry Rd but would like street lights on Oakdale between Roberts Ferry Rd and Redbird Run. Sidewalk
approaches on Redbird Run, Nightingale, Robin Ct, and Blue Jay that need addressed. Streets to be repaired on
Goldfinch Dr, some have been repaired but there are still a few that need fixed.
If anyone would like to make a comment or address the City Council but is unable to
attend the Council Meeting, you can do so by telephone by calling 319-545-2572 ext. 0 at
7:00 p.m.

sidewalks and approaches that need addressed. Council Member Olney would like to thank City
Staff for keeping the City running during this pandemic.

7. City Administrator Discussion: Council would like to postpone City Wide Clean Up
and City Wide Garage Sales to the Fall. Council would also like to cancel rentals for City Hall
and Park Shelter until further notice. Joint School Board Meeting that was scheduled for May
will be postponed.
