RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT - MIDDLESEX COUNTY STREET PAVING
PROGRAM
\VIIEREAS, the lnterlocal Services Act, N.J.S.A. 40:8A-l encourages counties and
municipalities to enter into contracts for the joint provision of services in order to
effectuate economies in government costs to reduce property taxes and provides legal
authority and procedures to effectuate such agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex (the "County") and the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") are desirous of entering into such an Interlocal Service Agreement providing
for the milling and resurfacing of various streets within the Borough in conjunction with
the 2009 County Road Paving Program; and
'VHEREAS, this agreement will effectuate the economy by coordinating the milling and
resuding efvarious Borough streets with the County Road Resurfacing Program; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:8A-4, said proposed contract is available
and open to public inspection at the Office of the Carteret Municipal Clerk, Carteret
Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, between the hours of 8:00
A.M. and 4:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
ofCarteret as follows:
1. That the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the
proposed Interlocal Services Agreement with the County of Middlesex
providing for the milling and resurfacing of various Borough streets as
detailed in said Agreement and in a form acceptable to the Borough
Attorney.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution with original signatures and the
Borough Seal, along with three executed copies of the aforementioned
Intcrlocal Services Agreement, be fonvarded to David R. Campion,
Director of Public Works, for processing.
