AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI BY
AUTHORIZING THE LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD TO ADOPT PROCEDURES FOR THEIR
HEARINGS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 4 (Alcoholic Beverages) Section 2 (Liquor Control Board) is
amended as follows:
Sec,4-2. Liquor control board.
A. The public policy of the State and the City is that the holding of licenses to sell intoxicating
liquors or nonintoxicating beer is a privilege and not a right. The provisions of this section
are designed to ensure that liquor or nonintoxicating beer licenses are granted only to persons
of responsible and moral character.
B. There is hereby established for the city a liquor control board which shall be composed of
the fire chief,the Assistant director of Community Development and finance director,who
shall serve as chairman of the board.
C. The Liquor Control Board may formulate and adopt all necessary rules and reaulations
reasonably necessary for the efficient operation of their hearings, which are not
inconsistent with the city code. Any rules approved by the board shall then be
submitted to the city council and shall become effective when approved by the council.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
passage d approval.
