A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AUTHORI ZING
THE VILLAGE M ANAGER TO SUBM IT A HAZARD
M ITIGATION GRA NT PROGRA M (HM GP) APPLICATION
TO THE FEDERA L EM ERGENCY M ANAGEM ENT
AGENCY (FEM A) FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION/RECONSTRUCTION OF THREE
OUTFALLS FOR THE ZONE 1 KS INTEGRA TED
STORM W ATER IM PROVEM ENT PROJECT; AND
PROVIDING FORAN EFFECTIVE DATE.
W HERE AS, pursuant to the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance
Act, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, through the Florida Division of Emergency
Management, may award municipalities grants under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
("HMGP") to fund eligible hazard mitigation measures following a major disaster declaration; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne (the "Village") desires to apply for an HMGP grant
for the construction/ reconstruction of three existing outfalls for the Zone 1 K8 Integrated Storm water
Improvement Project (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, if awarded a grant for the Project, the Village will be required to provide a
25% match based on total Project costs; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council supports the Village's application for the Project and
desires to authorize the Village Manager to apply for an HMGP grant in accordance with the Staff
Memorandum accompanying this Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and
welfare of the residents of the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:

Recitals. That each of the above-stated recitals are hereby adopted,
Authorization. That the Village Council hereby authorizes the Village
Manager to apply for an HMGP grant for the Project.
Section 3.
