April 18, 2007
CALL TO ORDER: Dr. Beck called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM
PRESENT: Dr. Barbara Beck, Dr. Carl Brownsberger, Dr. John Straus, Kristel Pendleton
and Steven Ward
Minute Review: The Board reviewed the minutes of February 21, 2007. Dr. Straus
made a motion to approve the minutes of February 21, 2007. Dr. Brownsberger seconded
the motion. All were in favor.
Old/New Business: Mr. Ward stated that the Biolab discussion would be continued at the
May BOH meeting.
Nichol's, 105 Nichol's Avenue.: Ms. Pendleton informed the Board that Mr.Vanes
Ovanesian is representing the Nichol's Convenience shop. Ms. Pendleton infoiined the
Board that the applicant had been instructed as to the format of comprehensive
inspections and the rules and their responsibilities during comprehensive inspections.
Ms. Pendleton reviewed the physical layout of the establishment and the menu with the
board. The applicant was informed that he will receive a 2007 Food Establishment Permit
in the mail. After a brief discussion Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the issuance of
a 2007 Food Establishment Permit. Dr. Brownsberger seconded the motion. All were in
favor.
162 Arlington Street: Mr. Ward presented a summary of events since Kathy McNair,
Esq. of Senior Solutions last addressed the Board. Mr. McNair is currently the temporary
guardian for Carmela D'Alanno, owner of 162 Arlington Street. Currently the house is
on the market to be sold. It was noted that Ms. D'Alanno is currently at the West Newton
Health and Rehabilitation Center in Newton, MA.
State Auditor's Report: Mr. Ward gave an overview of a statewide audit of 13 local food
inspection programs. Only Watertown and Waltham complied with state and federal
food code requirements.
