MEDINA CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 18, 2021
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in work session on May 18, 2021 at 6:00
p.m. in the City Hall Chambers. Mayor Martin presided.
Martin read a statement explaining that this meeting is being held in a virtual format
because of the ongoing pandemic. She provided instructions for public participation.
I. ROLL CALL
Council Members present: Cavanaugh, DesLauriers, Martin, and Reid.
Council Members absent: Albers.
Also present: City Administrator Scott Johnson, Assistant City Administrator Jodi
Gallup, Finance Director Erin Barnhart, City Planning Director Dusty Finke, Public Works
Director Steve Scherer, City Engineer Jim Stremel, and Chief of Police Jason Nelson.
II. HACKAMORE ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Martin commented that the City Council will review the 75% plans for Hackamore Road.
This work was authorized by the City Council at the February 16, 2021 meeting.
City Engineer Jim Stremel provided the presentation and discussed the revisions that
were made to the 75% plans. Stremel also discussed in detail the proposed stormwater
plan.
The City Council directed staff to discuss with utility providers burying telephone/other
infrastructure in the right of way and to keep the option of assessing existing properties
for road, trail, and other possible benefits open (expansion aspects need to be covered
by new developments).
The City Council thought the design for the road was thorough and well thought out.
Formal approval for the 75% plans for Hackamore Road was requested by staff at the 7
PM City Council Meeting on May 18, 2021.

III. ADJOURN
Moved by Reid, seconded by Cavanaugh, to adjourn the meeting on behalf of the City
Council at 6:47 p.m.
A roll call vote was performed:

Reid aye
Martin aye
Motion passed unanimously.
