HomeMy Public PortalAbout13-8553 Extend Contracts with Waste management and Choice Environmental Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 13-8553 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND THE CITY'S EXISTING CONTRACTS WITH WASTE MANAGEMENT (COMMERCIAL) AND CHOICE ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. (RESIDENTIAL), RESIDENTIAL CONTRACT PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 34-534431; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka has existing Solid Waste Contracts for residential and commercial pickup; and; WHEREAS, the City issued Request for Proposal #13-1202200 ("RFP") to award a new contract; and WHEREAS, the RFP was cancelled, and will be reissued to include residential and commercial pickup; and WHEREAS, the existing contracts are now expiring; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka finds it is necessary for public health and safety that residential and commercial solid waste be continually picked up in an orderly fashion, and therefore, it is necessary for the existing contracts to be extended, in order to allow the City to reissue and award the RFP for residential and commercial solid waste pickup. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Resolution No. 13-8553 Section 2. The existing contracts with Choice Environmental and Waste Management, Inc. are hereby extended until the end of Fiscal Year 2012-13, September 30, 2013, with the City to receive additional 30 day extension options as may be needed to complete the RFP award process, and with the residential contract to be payable from Account No. 34-534431. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of February, 2013.
