RESOLUTION NO. 13-8559
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA OPPOSING THE
FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION'S DECISION
TO CLOSE THE OPA-LOCKA AIRPORT FLIGHT
TOWER; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,the Opa-locka Airport Flight Tower("Airport Tower")provides safe and an
orderly regulation of air traffic in and nearby the City of Opa-locka; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (the"FAA") is considering closing the
Airport Tower because of the sequester; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka believes that closing the
Airport Tower will jeopardize the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Opa-locka; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka strongly opposes the closing
of the Airport Tower.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby strongly opposes
the closure of Opa-locka Airport Tower.
Section 3. The City shall notify residents of this problem by all means available to it,
including the use of the Code Red System.

Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to all State
Legislators representing the City of Opa-locka and to all members of Florida Congressional
Delegation.
Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
