The remainder of the cost will be paid by assessments and city funds. Brockton Lane Reconstruction The City of Medina and the City of Plymouth are working together to make improvements to Brockton Lane from Medina Road to Hamel Road. Construction is scheduled to occur during the summer of 2019. Construction will be completed in two stages— Medina Road to 44th Ave/Basswood Rd, and 44th Ave/ Basswood Rd to Hamel Road. Stages will be closed to traffic when they are being constructed, but access will be allowed to residents along the project area. The hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall (2052 County Road 24). The City Council recently adopted the updated Comprehensive Plan, which was the culmination of a multi-year process which included substantial public input at five community meetings, two business forums, thirteen Steering Committee meetings, various Planning Commission, Park Commission, and City Council meetings, and through an online forum. The 2020-2040 Plan includes certain changes from the City’s previous plan. The City is required to make changes to its zoning regulations so that they are consistent with the updated Plan within nine months. The following map identifies parcels which are proposed to be rezoned for consistency with the updated Plan. A list and explanation of the rezonings can be found on the City’s website at https://medinamn.us/rezoning. Properties proposed to be rezoned and owners within 350 feet will also receive a notice of the public hearing. If you have any questions, please contact Planning Director Dusty Finke at 763-473-8846 or dusty.finke@medinamn.gov. Proposed Rezonings 2040 Comp Plan Dec 2018 / Jan 2019 Page 3 Public Works & Public Safety Sidewalks and Snow Removal The City of Medina has a snow plowing priority route schedule as follows: 1) Main collector roads 2) Residential streets 3) Cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets 4) Trails. Please keep this in mind on snow cleanup days. To limit damage to sod, it is advised to place a marker along curb lines; however, metal poles are strictly prohibited within the City right-of-way. The City will not be responsible for any damage to obstacles that are located in the right-of-way, such as sprinkler heads, fences, garden are- as, etc. The City is also not responsible for repairing grass or sod that has been damaged in the right-of-way. It is the responsibility of property owners to remove snow and ice on their own sidewalks within 12 hours after it has ceased to form per City Code No. 420. However, please use ice control sparingly for sidewalks and other areas, because after it enters the storm drain, it eventually ends up in local lakes and rivers. Thefts from Autos Over the last few months, the police department has responded to numerous reports of thefts from autos. These thieves travel the suburbs at night and go from neighborhood to neighborhood checking for unlocked vehicles. If they find that the vehicle is unlocked, they enter the vehicle and take anything of value. There have been instances where the suspects have found unlocked garage service doors and have entered and stolen items out of the garages. Please make sure that you are locking your vehicles and doors at night. If you see anything suspicious, please call 911 to report it. In today’s world, we want to remind everyone, “If you see Something, Say Something.” It is not just something for the airport. If you have any questions, please contact the Medina Police Department at 763-473- 9209. House Checks During the Holiday Season, many of us are traveling out of the area; if you are planning on being on a trip or being out of town, please call the police department and put your house on the house check list. We will check your house while you are out of town; if there are any problems we will contact you. To sign up for a house check, just call the Medina Police Department at 763-473-9209. Winter Parking Regulations are in Effect As of November 1st, there is no parking on the streets of Medina between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The regulations are in effect until March 31st. The police enforce this ordinance to keep the streets clear for snowplowing. If you have any questions in reference to the parking ordinance, please call the police department at 763-473-9209. 2019 Park & Planning Commission Vacancies The City is seeking residents to serve on the Medina Park Commission and Planning Commission.
