RESOLUTION N0. '79_~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE~CITY OF LYNWOOD OF
LOS ANGELES COUNTY TO REAFFIRM ITS RECOGNITION OF THE
LOS ANGELES REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING BOARD AS THE
COUNTY REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING AND COORDINATING
BODY: FOR. CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
WHEREAS.,. the President's Crime .Commission in 1967'recognized
the urgent. need for comprehensive criminal justice planning in the
United States; and
WHEREAS., the. Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of
1968 provided a national strategy to address the documented problems
in the administration of justice, and•the Crime Control Act of 1973
was enacted~by Congress to continue•the~~efforts of this Act; and
WHEREAS.,. the Governor,~pursuant to provisions of the
Deukmejian-Moretti Act established the California Council on Criminal
Justice as the State Criminal Justice Planning. Agency to further the
comprehensiveness of criminal justice planni:ng~in the State, and has
signed into law Assembly Bill 1306 on 2 October 1973 in furtherance
of these national and state crime control goals; and
WHEREAS., the.Omni.bus Crime Control and Safe Streets legis-
lation has provided that forty percent (40%) of planning money must
be distributed. to local governments or combinations of units of
government; and
WHEREAS,. the City of Lynwood recognizes the need for effic-
ient use of criminal justice resources and the concurrent necessity
of coordinating state and federal action funds; and
WHEREAS, the California Council on Criminal Justice has
---- - establi-shed~ Los Angeles County as a separate region, effective
1 July 1971., and-the California legislature has recognized each
.county as a planning district by passage of Assembly Bill 1306,
effective 2 October 1973; and
WHEREAS., the City of Lynwood has previously recognized the
Los Angeles County Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board as the
Los Angeles:County regional planning and coordinating body for
criminal justice:through Resolution No. 73-102.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Lynwood reaffirm its recognition of the Los Angeles
County Regional:Criminal Justice Planning Board as the Los Angeles
County regional planning and coordinating body for criminal justice.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of February,l979.
