A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF .THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
URGING LEGISLATION TO ASSURE THE EARLY CONSTRUCTION OF
THE PERIPHERAL CANAL UNIT O.F.~THE.STATE WATER PROJECT..
WHEREAS, ~it is well established that future water
demands require the development of additional water sources;
WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal unit of the State Water
Project is one of the .most vital elements needed to utilize
.that project to its fullest intended potential;
WHEREAS, the Peripheral Canal is a segment of the
State Water Project essential toward fulfilling .the entitlement
of the State project to Southern California;
WHEREAS:, the construction of the Peripheral Canal serves
the best interest. of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITX OF LYNWOO,D
DOES~RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
THAT, this honorable body;
(1) Urge ,passage of legislation to~assure the early
construction of the Peripheral Canal;
(2) Direct the City Clerk to distribute this resolution
among the legislators;
(3) Direct the City staff-to inform the public on this
matter.
INTRODUCED, APPROVED, AND.ADOPTED this 3rd day of
April 1979.
