City Council Adopts Stormwater Management Ordinance In an effort to improve the quality of lakes, streams and wetlands and to meet en- vironmental mandates, the City Council adopted regulations related to stormwater management on November 15, 2011. The ordinance describes when certain stormwater improvements (such as retention ponds, raingardens, and oth- er similar features) will be required to be constructed on property. This in- cludes new development, as well as when impervious surfaces are expand- ed on existing property such as expan- sions of existing buildings and parking lots. The ordinance is accompanied by Design Guidelines which are intended to assist property owners in designing these improvements and to provide information on in- novative practices. For more information, please contact the Planning Department at (763) 473-4643. 2012 Park Commission & Planning Commission Vacancies The City is seeking residents to serve on the Medina Park Commission and Planning Commission. On each commission, there are three seats up for appointment/re-appointment effective January 2012 for three-year terms. Designate Your Property on the No Hunting Map As part of the hunting task force that was assembled in early 2011, one of our recommendations to the City Council was to develop a no hunting map for the City of Medina. We are offering Medina residents in the rural residential area where hunting is allowed the opportunity to have their prop- erty labeled as “No Hunting”. Residents should contact the Medina Police Department through email and request their property be put on this map designating it as no hunting. This map will then be distributed with hunting permits so that the hunters know up front that your property has been designated as no hunting. Requests should be sent to anne@ci.medina.mn.us . If you have any further questions, please feel free to call the Medina Police Department at 763-473-9209.
