RESOLUTION NOo 79_100
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COCINCIL OF THE CITY .OF
LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR
CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING TO MATERIALS
SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS THEREOF FOR
ANY ELECTIONo
. WHEREAS, Section 10012_of the Elections Code of the State
of California provides that the governing body of any local agency.
adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared by any candi~
date for a municipal election, including costs thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY CO(JNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
.SECTION to GENERAL PROVISIONSa That :pursuant to
Section 10012 of the Elections Code of 'the State of Oaliforna,
each candidate for elective office to be voted for at any Municipal
Election to be held in the City of Lynwood, may prepare a candidates
statement on an appropriate form .provided by the City Clerko
Such statement may include the name, age and occupation of the can-
didate and a~brief description of the candidate4s education and
qualifications expressed by the candidate himself, Such state
merit shall not include party affiliation of the candidate, nor
membership or activity in partisan political organizationse Such
statement shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk at the
time the candidate°s nomination papers are filedo Such statement
may be withdrawn, but not changed during the period for filing
Hnomznation papers •and until- 5 0 00--p,m,- of. the next_.WOrking day .
after the close of the nomination periode
SECTION 2~ SPANISH LANGUAGEo The City Clerk shall prom
vide a Spanish translation of the candidates statement to be
included in the Voter°s Pamphlet and mailed with the sample balloto
SECTION ~~ ADDITIONAL MATERIALSo No candidate will be
permitted to include additional .materials in the sample ballot
packageo
SECTION 4, PAYMENTo The City Clem shall estimate the
total cost of printing, hand~Ling~ translating, and mai"ling the can
didate°s statements filed pursuant to the Elections Code, and rem
quire each candidate filing a statement to pay in advance his or
her pro rata share as a condition of having his or her statement in-
cluded in the voters pamphleto The City Clerk shall bill each.
candidate for any cost in excess of the deposit and shall refund
any unused portion of any deposito
SECTION 5o That the City Clerk shall provide each can
dilate or. _thc•.candidate~s representative a copy of this Resolution
at the time nominating petitions ~.:~e ~ssuede• - ~~

SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of 'this Resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a
minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records of the pro
ceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the
meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
