HomeMy Public PortalAbout13-8589 Develop a Policy for Attracting and Regulation Film and TV Production and Filming Sponsored by: Commissioner Santiago RESOLUTION NO. 13-8589 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO DEVELOP A POLICY FOR ATTRACTING AND REGULATING FILM AND TV PRODUCTION AND FILMING IN THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS,the City of Opa-locka has many interesting locations, including its famous Moorish Revival architecture; and WHEREAS,many film and TV companies desire to shoot location scenes in the City of Opa-locka; and WHEREAS,the City desires to be seen in a positive light, reflecting the good name and hard-working residents of the City, and also desires to maximize the revenue which the City may receive from such production and filming NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka directs the City Manager to develop a policy for attracting and regulating production and filming by the TV and film industry in the City of Opa-locka, and to present the policy to the City Commission for review and approval. Resolution No. 13-8589 Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of April, 2013.
