CARTERET UEZ REQUEST FOR A ONE-TIME SIXTEEN YEAR EXTENSION

WHEREAS, Ihe Borough of Carteret UEZ Board desires to apply for and obtain an extension of the New
Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Act, specifically, N.J.S.A 52:27H-66.6
Carteret may be eligible for a one-lime, 16-year extension to ils exisling UEZ Program; and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate this process, Carteret will be required to meel either or both of the criteria
set forth in the Act:
. The annual average of unemployed persons in Carteret is equal to or greater than 2,000
persons or your municipality's average annual unemployment rate exceeds the slate
average unemployment rate;
WHEREAS, in order to be considered for an extension, Carteret is required 10 submil a request for an
extension to the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Authority and include all appropriate stalislical
documentalion and presentalion by the UEZ Coordinator at the December 8, 2009 Utban Enlerprise Zone
Authority meeting including Carteret's zone successes and accomplishments since designation.
highlighling new businesses, expansions, jobs created, privale investment, projects approved by the
Authority and a summaty of the future direction of the zone if approved for an exlension.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that Ihe Borough of Carteret does hereby authorize the preparalion and
submission of a request for an extension to the New Jersey Enterprise Zone Authority; and
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that Ihe Borough of Carteret supports the extension of the UEZ Program
and acknowledges the impact and success the lax benefits, incentives, and lessening of the local tax
burden has had on Carterel from 1994 through 10 the presenl; and.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the persons whose names, lilies and signatures appear below are
aulhorized 10 sign the UEZ Program extension requesl, and thai they or their successors in said Iitles are
authorized to sign any other documents necessary in connection therewith.
