HomeMy Public PortalAboutDec 06 BOH MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH MEETING December 11, 2006 CALL TO ORDER: Dr. Beck called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM PRESENT: Dr. Beck, Dr. John Straus, Dr. Carl Brownsberger, Gerard Cody and Steven Ward Minute Review: The Board reviewed the minutes of November 6, 2006. Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the minutes of November 6, 2006. Dr. Brownsberger second the motion and all were in favor. Old/New Business: Health Department intern Mark Waksmonski gave an overview of his internship with the Watertown Youth Coalition. Mr. Waksmonski's presentation centered around activities aimed at reducing alcohol consumption among teens. Grappa, 71 Elm Street.: Mr. Cody informed the Board that Mr. Shelley Matarazzo is representing Grappa Restaurant. Mr. Cody informed the Board that the applicant had been instructed as to the format of comprehensive inspections and the rules and their responsibilities during comprehensive inspections. Mr. Cody reviewed the physical layout of the establishment with the board. The applicants were also infoiiiied that they will receive a 2007 Food Establishment Permit in the mail. After a brief discussion Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the issuance of a 2007 Food Establishment Permit. Dr. Brownsberger seconded the motion and all were in favor. Athena/IJnidine, 400 North Beacon Street: Mr. Cody informed the Board that Mr. Thomas Queen is representing Athena/Unidine. Mr. Cody informed the Board that the applicant had been instructed as to the format of comprehensive inspections and the rules and their responsibilities during comprehensive inspections. Mr. Cody reviewed the physical layout of the establishment with the board. Mr. Queen stated that he would provide the board with an updated menu that listed the required consumer advisory. The applicants were also informed that they will receive a 2007 Food Establishment Permit in the mail. After a brief discussion Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the issuance of a 2007 Food Establishment Permit. Dr. Brownsberger seconded the motion and all were in favor. International Natural Bakery,128 Arlington Street: Mr. Cody informed the Board Mr. Oleg Kirzner is representing International Natural Bakery. Mr. Cody informed the board that the applicant had been instructed as to the format of comprehensive inspections and the rules and their responsibilities during comprehensive inspections. Mr. Cody reviewed the physical layout of the establishment with the board. The applicants were also informed that they will receive a 2007 Food Establishment Permit the mail. After a brief discussion Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the issuance of a 2007 Food Establishment Permit. Dr. Brownsberger seconded the motion and all were in favor. East Coast Gas, 354 Arsenal Street: Mr. Cody informed the Board that Mr. Musa is representing East Coast Gas. Mr. Musa is requesting a Hazardous Materials Peru iit from. the Board of Health. Mr. Cody stated that the applicant had completed all the requirements necessary to obtain a permit to store Hazardous Materials. After a brief discussion Dr. Straus made a motion to approve the issuance of a 2006-2007 Hazardous Material Penult. Dr. Brownsberger seconded the motion and all were in favor. 162 Arlington Street: Mr. Ward informed the Board that Kathy McNair Esq., court appointed temporary guardian for Carmella D'Allano, was present representing Ms. D'Allano concerning the condemned dwelling at 162 Arlington Street. Attorney McNair was before the Board to seek relief from the 162 Arlington Street Condemnation Order of November 14, 2006. Mr. Ward described the conditions at 162 Arlington Street that lead to the condemnation order and the status of the dwelling after it had been cleaned by a professional cleaning company. Ms. McNair explained that the dwelling would be sold to assist Ms. D'Allano in settling her estate and that she would like an extension of time to sell the property and to put Ms. D'Allano's affairs in order. Dr. Straus made a motion to sustain the condemnation order dated November 14, 2006 and to continue the hearing until the January 16, 2007 Board of Health meeting. Dr. Brownsberger seconded and all were in favor. EP Update/Special Populations: Mr. Cody and Mr. Ward gave an overview of the December 9, 2006 regional EDS flu clinic in Newton. Mr. Cody updated the board on the status of an "all hazards binder" for the groups that comprise special populations. This binder is intended to serve as a guide for these groups in the development their emergency plans. Next Meeting Date: January 16, 2007 Adjourned: The meeting adjourned at 9:35 PM.
