COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
MINUTES
DECEMBER 16, 1980
INITIATION:
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Atkins called the regular meeting of the Community
Redevelopment Agency to order at 7:47 p.m, on Tuesday, December 16,
1980, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall.
Present: Members- Gillanders, Merritt, Tyrell, Atkins
Absent: Members - Dennis
Also Present: Executive Director Koski, General Counsel Martin
Mr. Gillanders moved to excuse Mr, Dennis•for cause, seconded.by
Mr. Tyrell and arried.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On motion by Mr. Merritt, seconded by Mr, Tyrell, the minutes of
the regular meeting held December 2, 1980, were approved as
written.

None.
NEW BUSINESS:
II 4. BRAKE REPAIR SHOP: 5530 ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD
Executive Director Koski presented background information, stating
the Planning Commission, at their regular meeting held December 9,
1980, adopted a resolution approving a conditional use permit to
develop an automotive brake repair shop within the boundary of the
Rosemead Boulevard Redevelopment Project area which will require
Agency concurrence, Since the Planning Commission meeting, the
applicant has submitted on -site sign design which include two
32' x 7' wall mounted signs and one 27' high x 14' wide free - standing
sign. The free - standing sign was for the previous business and is
proposed to reface it with new panels, CRA policy has been to limit
free - standing signs to not more than 16' overall height for a single
business.
John Helbing, owner of the property, advised the sign was installed
in 19/4 and he would like to keep the sign for his new tenant. He
further advised he has future plans with the owner of the car wash .
to develop the property. The sign and building will come down at
that time, which is approximately two years,
Mr, Gillanders moved to concur with the Planning Commission resolu-
tion and to allow the proposed signs, the free - standing sign per-
mitted for a period of two years, seconded by Mr. Merritt and carried.

On motion by Mr. Tyrell,. seconded by Mr. Gillanders, meeting
adjourned at.8.p <m. Next regular meeting of. the Community Redevel-
opment Agency will be held Tuesday, January 6, 1981, 8 p.m. in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall,
