RESOLUTION NO. 13-8598
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO DISCONTINUE USE
OF THE RED LIGHT CAMERAS, AND NOT RENEW
CONTRACT WITH AMERICAN TRAFFIC SOLUTIONS
(ATS) UPON EXPIRATION OF CURRENT CONTRACT;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka has a contract with American Traffic Solution (ATS)
to provide"red light cameras"to enforce traffic safety at intersections; and
WHEREAS, the program has not worked as anticipated, either in terms of safety
improvement or as a source of revenue for the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka has determined that the red
light cameras should be discontinued and the contract with American Traffic Solution (ATS),
shall not be renewed after expiration of current contract, unless the contract can be renegotiated
upon terms more favorable to the city and acceptable to the City Commission, including
relocation of cameras from some existing locations.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, hereby directs the City
Manager to discontinue use of red light cameras and not renew the contract with American
Traffic Solution(ATS)upon the current contract expiration, unless the contract can be

renegotiated upon terms more favorable to the city and acceptable to the City Commission,
including relocation of cameras from some existing locations.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8`"day of May, 2013.
