RESOLUTION N0..78-loo
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD IN
SUPPORT OF THE SOUTHEAST MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Southeast Mosquito Abatement District
has been serving the people of the City of Lynwood for the
past five years maintaining the mosquitoes below the disease
and nuisance threshold, and
WHEREAS, the District contro3s--mosquitoes•at a
minimum cost to the taxpayers as one of the most economica l
forms of local government, and
WHEREAS, the work performed by the District is
vital to the health and welfare of our citizens, and
WHEREAS, the dissolution of said District would
eliminate effective and low-cost control as we know it, and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Lynwood are entitled to'
the level of mosquito control they currently enjoy with the
present District, and
WHEREAS, the citizen's of Lynwood joined the
District in order to receive the benefits of the level of
mosquito control provided by the District not available by
any other governmental agency, and
WHEREAS, the District has local citizens who sit
on its Board of Trustees providing local control of District
activities-which is local government at its _finest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
Lynwood ,supports the continued existence of the Southeast
Mosquito Abatement District and opposes any action by the
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to dissolve or
otherwise change the current structure of mosquito control
in this District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED., that this Resolution be
transmitted to the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Los Angeles in due course.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be
' placed upon the permanent records of the City of Lynwood
and a copy executed by the Mayor and City Council.
