BUILDINGS & GROUNDS - COlfunittee Chairperson Naples
reported that aside from the usual tasks, Buildings & Grounds will
be assisting in preparation of the Halloween festivities on
Washington Avenue and the Halloween Parade. She also reported
that the Energy Audit began this week, explaining it is a BPU
Grant for $36,000.00 and we will have results and a report within
six (6) months.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION - Connnittee Chairperson Diaz
reported that yesterday the Borough held its annual tax sale and
sold 253 tax liens. He also reported the fourth quarter tax bills
were sent out last week and the resolution that was just approved
extended the due date until November 16'h without interest for the
residents. He said the BTR Property Tax Reimbursement Forms
have been coming in steadily and the filing due date has been
extended to November 2nd and last week over a thousand sewer
rebate checks were mailed out to our eligible residents.
Mayor Reiman told Councihnember Diaz that he would like to add
something to be put publicly on the record, because it was
announced earlier in the year. He said in partnering with our
Economic Development Agency, the Borough purchased all of the
single family owner occupied tax liens to insure that our residents,
for the tax sales only, will not be going toward eviction. He
explained that the agency spent about $40,000.00 on acquiring
those liens and they will receive the money back, plus interest, at
the point in time it is paid off and the interest will far exceed the
interest they would have made in the bank.
FIRE & DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS - Committee Chairperson
Krum reported that he wanted to welcome and congratulate three
(3) new volunteer firefighters that have completed their
Firefighting Training I at Middlesex County Fire Academy and
have also passed their Firefighter I Certification Test. He went on
to say, in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the Fire
Department is cUlTently conducting Fire Prevention Education
