RESOLUTION N0. 77-43
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CLTY OF
LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA DESIGNATING MAY 22 THROUGH MAY 28,
1977, AS NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
WHEREAS, Public Works services provided in this community are
integral part of our citizen's everyday. lives; and
WHI•;REAS, the support of an understanding and informed
citizenry is vital to the planning and construction of highways and
' other types of public works facilities; and
WHEREAS, the health, sanitation, safety and :general- well-being,
of this community depends, to a great degree, on these services and
facilities; and.
WHEREAS, the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of future
"facilities, as well as the planning, design, construction and maintenance
of existing facilities is vitally dependent upon our public works. engineers,
-- -.=-administrators, " superintendent s_,_.,techncians and maintenance,"persgnne_1; and
' WHEREAS, retaining and attracting qualified and dedicated
personnel to staff public works departments is materially influenced by
:. the peoples attitude and understanding of the importance of the work "
performed by such employees; and
. WHEREAS, current shortages of such necessities as water, gas and
electricity makes the efficient management of public works. facilities
extremely important; and
WHEREAS, most public agencies are finding public works facilities
financing increasingly more difficult:

NOV'7, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwgod
in conjunction with the American Public Works Associatign and t#~e
National Public Works Week Committee hereby designates hgay 22, thrqu~h
May 28, ].977, as National Public Works Week, and calls upon all citizens
end civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the problems involved
= in providing public works facilities and services, and recognize the
important rgle in our safety, health and well-being tYiat is .played by
the, public works officials in our community.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of May, 1977.
