A R.ESOLiJTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR.CANDiDATES FOR
ELECTIVE OFFICE, PERTAINING TO MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO
THE ELECTORATE AND THE CGSTS THEREOFo
WHEREAS, Sect~.on 1001.2 of the Elections Code of the State
of California authorizes .the governing body of any local agency:
to adopt regulations pertaining to materials prepared. by any
candidate .for a mu.na.cipal. e:l.ection, i.nclv.d~.ng ~ost~ ther~o.f.,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O:P" LYNWOOD9
C'ALIFORNIA,,DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That pursuant to Section 1.0012 of the Elections
Code of the State of Cal.iforn~.a, each caridi.date fc~r elective
office to be troted for at any municipal election .hereafter held
in the City of Lynwood may prepare a candidate's stat;ement on
an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. Such statement
may include the name, age and, occupata_on of the cand:~.d.ate and. a
brief description of no more than two hundred (200) words of
the ca.ndidate's education. anal clu.al.ificatlons expressEd by the
candidate himself. Such s.ta.tement shall n.ot i.n.~lud.e party
affiliation of the candidate, nor membersh-ip or activity in
partisan political. organizations. Such statement .shall be
filed ~..n the office of the City Clerk at the time the candi.date's
nomination. papers a:r•e filed, Such statement may be w~:thdrawn,
but not changed, during the perl.od for fil.i.ng nom3.nation papers.
and until 5:00 pem.. of the next vrorking day after- the close of
the nom.i.natior~ period.
Section 2. That in compliance with the recent amendments
to the Federal Voting Rights Act of '1g65 (Fiabl.i.c .Law g4-73,
August 6, 1875) the City Clerk shall. provide a Spa.n~?.sh trans-
lation of the .c andi.date's statement t~ be included .l.n the
Voter's Pamphlet and mailed.. with the sample ballot.

Section 3. That the City Clerk shall send to each voter
with the sample ballot, a voter's pamphlet which contains the
statement of each candidate in English and Spanish pursuant to
law.
Section 4. That each candidate filing a candidate's
statement shall be billed for the services rendered, a sum not
greater than the actual prorated costs of printing, handling
and translating and such bill shall be due and payable immediately
upon receipt thereof.
Section 5. That the City Clerk shall provide each
candidate or the candidate's representative a copy of this
Resolution at the time nominating petitions are issued.
Section 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same
in the book of original Resolutions of said City.; and shall
make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records
of ;t he proceedings of the City Council of said City,. in the
minutes of the meeting ,at which the same is passed and adopted.
