HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - 4/5/19485th April 5 1948. Regular Meeting. - Council met in regular meeting at 11:00 oclock to finish all old business. Mayor Vahlisng presiding and councilmen, Boeke- Heddez- Hook- Junker and Okones present; - Minutes of the last meeting were read and on motion by Junker second by Okones approved as read- motion carried. The Town treasurer filed his monthly report and it was moved and seconded that same be placed on file. Claassen ree d 82 votes H C Haack 95 Woodrow Lindaman 106 " The above having recieved the majority of votes were declared elected. Town 0,7. erk 142 5th April Ith 1948. The newly Elected council met at 12:00 noon. Mayor Vahlsing presiding, having; been sworn in proceeded to, and did, administer the Oath of office to the following elected councilmen; Herman R Hook- C H Kuper- D D Huisman- J T Riekena and Jerry Spieker. The council organized as a.body and proceeded to elect a Town Clerk - Councilman Kuper moved that the rules be suspended and that the Clerk be appointed by acclamation, and that G H Geerdes be elected Town Clerk, motion second by Herman B Hook Roll call- Ayes- Hook- Huisman- Kuper- Piekena- Spieker. ',_ay.or declared. G H Geerdes elected a sTown Ulerk. It vkTas moved that council adjourn to 7:30 oclock Motion carried. Anril 5th 1948 Council met in adjourned session at 7:30 PP:•I. P.Iayor Vahlsing nresiding and all councilmen _present. The follolvinp, were approved as Firemen to replace H W Ross and J T Riekena-as follows- M M Boeke and H 0 Heddens- The newly elected Park board met with the council and were sworn into office by Mayor Vahlsing. Lots were drawn as to their respective term of office and the result was as follows; Ric4ard Claaseen- 2years H C Haa ck 4 years Woodrow Lindaman 6.years The time for holding councilmeetings was set at 8:00 oclock P.r: on the 1st Monday in the month . The JTayor proceeded to swear in the Town Treasurer and Town Clerk. Mayer Vahlsing reports that he has appointed Otta Tjaden for the position as Mgr. of Waterworks and Sewer systems, and as relief Marshall. By a vote of the council the salary for the above job he $195.00 per month. The Mayor was directed to hire a Street commissioner and Parshall, and that the salary to be paid be not more than P,175.00 per month. There being; no other business it was moved by Riekena second by Huisman to adjourn. Clerk I ayor. - Board of Realth- Apr 5th Council conveinec_ as a Board of Health. All councilmen present - It was moved by Hook second. by Spieker th t Dr 1r K Kienzle be appointed Health Physician. motion carried. It was moved. by hiekena seconded by Kuper, that this council hereby adopt all the rules and regulations of the State oard of -health and be g overned thereby- motion carried. There was no report f vmm the Health Physcian. There beirip° no other business it was moved to adjourn. Clerk _ Mayor.
